Hi,
I`m looking into buying a 12 string acoustic. What would you say were the best contenders in the sub- £500 market?
Thanks in advance for any opinions.
Take care,
Alex

Apr 25, 2005 11:07 pm Takamine comes to mind. As well as Yamaha has a couple that might be sub $500.00.
Apr 26, 2005 11:15 am we sell Deans and Taks here, and i gotta admit, the Deans hold their own against them, we have a 12st. acoustic/electric single cutaway in here for 500 bucks (US).....check 'em out

Apr 26, 2005 02:26 pm 500 GBP would be around 700$us? no? that may open up the view a little. sorry I don't have a recommondation, as I'm not in that area for 12st.
woo, even more
500.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 952.448 USD
United States Dollars
That'd buy some pretty nice 12 strings I'd figure. I'd look into the taylor line with that $$$. I've never played a taylor I didn't like.
of course, there's plenty of very nice ones for less, but, i'm just giving you an idea.
Apr 26, 2005 02:30 pm I have a fender acoustic/electric 12 string that im quite fond of, but hardly play. most of my acoustic playing is done on my nylon string alvarez, its gets abused.

Apr 26, 2005 08:43 pm Ah, but tune it down to a "D" instead of "E" and use a capo! The bridge stays attached longer, too. I had an old Yamaha (1970?) that sounded GREAT, but had to sell many moons ago for $100US. If nothing else, look for a used one. My favorite is the Martin, but I can't touch one until my rich uncle dies, and I don't have a rich uncle.
Apr 27, 2005 07:57 pm hehe, well, thanks alot for all the replies guys. I`d love to get a Taylor one but they are just slightly out of my price range, and the "just slightly" seems alot right now!
I`ve just been searching on ebay of all places actually and have come across a few old Guilds...I heard they are among the best. Quite pricey though! I played a Takamine one in a shop today actually and really liked it...plus, it only costs £250!!! Wow!...I don`t know what to do!...for the first time in a long time, the cheap price is putting me off a little! I feel as though I need to spend more to get a better sound! Anyway, I`m sure I`m making too much of a fuss about the price!
Thanks again guys and take care.
Alex :)
