without gettin' into legal stuff, i was wonderin' how one would sample a dvd....i've got my dvd player gooin' through my soundblaster so i was thinkin' i could run the digital out of that into my q-10....i guess i'd hafta record at 24/48 but i wanted to see if there was an app or something that'd work better....i have a few "how to play drums" dvds that i'd like to jam to.

Feb 23, 2005 06:33 pm I have done this.
I just pluged the component outs of my DVD player into the ins of my mixer routed to my Audiophile. You can just go in to you line ins on your q10.
I recorded at 24/44.1 and it turned out fine.
Feb 23, 2005 06:35 pm well the dvd rom i'm using is in my computer, but like i said, i have access to analog outs from my Sound Blaster....i think that's what i'll do. hehe i get to jam with Carter Beuford (sp?)
Feb 23, 2005 06:36 pm I would suggest yer plan would work fine. As you also say thi, there is "legal stuff" to consider i.e. you are pretty much not allowed to sample in this way any longer!!! Essentially itd be rippin oot copyrighted material and using it...
So, if you ever plan on doing anything with your sample, commercial or otherwise, you would most likely be breakin the law.
A moot point and I hate to be the auld grump but...thems the facts man.
