Well I’ve tried everything and I just have to face it… I NEED A SINGER! Do any of you know a good website for finding musicians – in my case a vocalist – to collaborate with? I’ve seen a few sites that have a place where you can post what you need, which others can then seek out, but none of the ones I’ve found get much action… Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Feb 15, 2005 07:40 pm Do you need to be face to face with the person?
If not why not ask around here.
I'd be willing to help

Feb 15, 2005 07:47 pm I don't need to be with the person... but I'm really looking for a long term working relationship. Or at least the intention of having one ;)

Feb 15, 2005 07:55 pm Cool! I'd be intersted to see what your doing.
Feb 15, 2005 07:59 pm Well I compose full scores using a midi program, which i then play live. I'd be thrilled to send you a backing track, but I'm not sure how to get it to you. It's too big to E-Mail...

Feb 15, 2005 08:02 pm how big is it?
Feb 15, 2005 08:04 pm 33 mg i believe. that is if i'm converting 33,000 kb correctly
Feb 15, 2005 08:07 pm There is most likely a way to compress it, but I either don't have the right software or I don't know how

Feb 15, 2005 08:44 pm yeh, that'll work if its a WAV - no worries.
It's pretty easy to use too, let me know how you go

Feb 15, 2005 09:51 pm Well, if bleak has midi capabilities, you could upload the midi files which I guarantee are much smaller, just for Bleak to get the idea of where you are going.

Feb 15, 2005 09:57 pm Yeh, thats an option, i do have those capabilities!
I've never imported MIDI stuff before but, hey, what could possably go wrong :)
But if you do want to go the compression way, Winzip should get 30 odd meg down to about 4.
Feb 16, 2005 07:18 am Well, if ye are doing this you have 3 choices:
1. Use MIDI - file will be about 30K and can be attached to a regular email!!! When you do this, Bleak, the principle is the same as if you are using method below...the midi wont be mixed down anyway so it wont matter.
2. Use MP3 - you dont need a full wav for a backing track. YOu take the MP3 (encoded at say 128kps) and import this into your multitracker on track 1, record your vox on track 2, then delete the track 1, mixdown and voila!
3. Use WAV - MEGGGGGS of space, time to upload and download and not needed unless you are posting the final mix. In this case Bleak, you'd send back your vocals in WAV format...sorted!
Hope this helps.

www.artistcollaboration.com
lotsa helpfull people
BTW i'm a singer too , If I dig the music I would most certainly collaborate with you
for the transferring
with the above mentioned site you get a 100 MB free collab storage space.
It's best to compress your wave to a .ape file
codecs and converter can be found at www.dbpoweramp.com
it compresses the .wav file biy 50 %
not only singers there though, also Guitarists, Bassists, Drummers ( very good ones ) Pianists, Lyricists whatever... all musicians are over there.. all setup for quality recordings
check it out;)
if your into collab that's your best bet
Feb 16, 2005 09:20 am *** the .ape file will compress but needs to be uncompressed back to an .wav file again to be useable it's just like a .zip file just for audio
and it's a lossless conversion no quality reduction
Feb 16, 2005 10:01 am Thanks guys. I'm going to try out that winzip program. I really appreciate the help, and I look forward to your feedback!
