Scratch Software

Can anyone recommend any software that will take in a wave sample and let me scratch to it? Like Vinyl emulation. I'm not trying to mix beats or anything like that, just scratch or make scratch effects. I'm not really looking for hardware.

Alright, I just tried that analogx one here at work. It doens't really sound that realistic. Maybe I just have to play with it more. I'll have to wait till I get home till I try fruity loops.

i guess its a hard thing to emulate well, cos the sound of scratching is a sound ebing played backwards and forwards at varying speeds...i was thinking yesterday about how i might try and replicate it with just a wave eidtor.

thats after ive made my own virtual vinyl crackle of course...

When I was browsing through guitar center, I saw the Technics CD Turntables and they were able to emulate the scratch pretty good. Not perfect, but very usable. It even had a memory card slot to load/save samples or loops to scratch with. It cost like $1000 or so, that's why I'm looking for a much cheaper option. I prefer software if possible because my workstation space is already pretty tight.

Ots Audio has DJ style turntables that you can manually (well, with the mouse anyway) scratch on. It's pretty neat. They have 5 preset scratch types, or you can do your own with the mouse. I'm not sure of what your application would be and if this would be feasible, but it works pretty well.

The free demo pumps out their audio logo every 5 minutes or so, so you'd have to shell for their bedroom edition (30$us I think) to be able to work with it for long.
