Recording in Sonar with Audigy

Hello All,

This may seem like an extremely stupid question but here it goes. Ive recorded some MIDI and Audio tracks (guitars) in Sonar and would now like to mix down the project to one stereo track. When I do that, I get a weird almost ghosting sound. I know it has to do with the fact that Im playing back and recording using the same soundcard. I also do know that other people are able to do this. Im at my wits end with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

it has nothing to do with using the same card to record and playback, most people do that...it mayhave something to do with WHICH card you are doing it with, as SB's aren't really a recording card, that said, define "ghosting sound"?

Im using an Audigy. Im guessing it has to do with monitoring. The sound that Im getting when Im bouncing down all MIDI and audio tracks sounds as if its in a vacuum. It almost sounds like the mixed sound is coming from a cone of sorts. This happens when I arm the Audio track for recording and try to make a stereo recording to one track. Thats the only way I can explain it right now.

I know nothing about Sonar, but I do know that the Sound Blaster/Audigy card you're using is most likely the issue .

I had a chance to mess with a DAW equiped with one of those, and Cubase over the weekend... whole gig of RAM in it, and it still had issues . Eventually it worked, but man what a hassle .

Highlight all the tracks and go to File<Export Audio...or i think it might say mixdown audio.

what's happening is you're tryin' to play the tracks and record that track onto a new track, so you're hearing the original tracks PLUS the new recorded track.....whenever you need to mix down to a wav file, ya gotta export it.

OK, so I highlight all the tracks I want to mixdown and then I go to mixdown audio/export audio - am I right? How does this work for my MIDI instruments? I only have 4 tracks of audio and 10 tracks of MIDI.

export will mixdown MIDI into the mix as well.

Will it include the audio from the MIDI instruments as well in the mixdown?
