-listening- wow nice tone on the the lead acoustic guitar! the mix sounds a bit reverb heavy but it creates a very moody atmosphere so it's not too bad....the drums are a bit back in the mix (mainly the kick)....hmmm but now (2:50) it seems they sit rather nicely back there and it keeps the attention on the vocals...i'm diggin' the guitar solo, the bends are on point! (4:30) ok do you have any way to automate your reverb on the drums? cuz when it's just the hi-hat, that reverb seems a bit thin...just an idea though...ahh there's that guitar again, i really like your solos man, very heartfelt. ok that was my realtime analysis...

to recap, i like the song and the structure, you're lead guitar fits the mood oh so nicely, and the vocals were uber moody and soft...being a bass player, i noticed the bass line was waaaaaaaay in the back, it could be my crappy computer speakers, but i had to crank them up to hear the bass. the bigest thing i can think of is the reverb, if you can i'd extend the decay a bit and roll off the highs (of the reverb) to warm it up. it sounds real brittle. that's about all i hafta say about that....good song man

peace

Thanks for those comments :)
You had good points there and I will try to fix the bass and adjust the reverb levels a bit.
I'm glad to hear that you liked the guitar solos :)

Nice Nice work. Reminds me a bit of dream theater.

The guitar work is exelent. Personaly I love the way your using the Verb. Would be a different song without it. I aggree the Kick could use a little bit of "Clack" to bring it out. Maybe boost a little 2K on it. Otherwise, I really dig this tune. Again the guitars are fantastic!!

Nice song, and mood, I can't add much to what wyd said, except to say my feeling on the reverb being a bit much is even stronger. It's not so much the amount, there's plenty of songs very heavy on reverb, but the particular reverb your using makes eveything kind of muddy with bad resonances. This is primarily in intro, once the bass, drums, etc, come in it's not too bad.

Hmmm....I really don't hear a problem with the reverb at all. I think the verb is integral to the feeling of the song. The only minor problem I have is the vocals. A little too loud for my taste(course I like my vox mixed at or below instrument level, so it may be just me..) Also it seems that there is too much "presence" on the vocals...they don't seem to sit "in" the song, but more on top of the song...

BUT, my overall impression of the song is VERY favorable. I really dig the mood and the guitar playing is awesome; what a lead tone!!!

Your guitar tone reminds me A LOT of Justin Heyward's on 'Seventh Sojourn' by the Moody Blues...and I'm a huge Moody Blues fan, so that's a compliment. Actually, there's a lot of MB comparisons I could make...your vocal meter sorta falls into Mike Pinder's pattern.

The rest of the song is par excellence. I really love this kind of music when it's not pretentious...sadly, a lot of this particular genre gets way too pretentious for my tastes. Not this song, though...just excellent stuff, really.

Thank you very much for those comments :)
If you want to, read my new topic about the new song we've recorded yesterday. It's still a bit "raw" version but I'd like to get some comments :)

I agree with OD on the reverb thing as well. Its not that it is too much reverb it is the choice of reverb. That may be what is causing the kick drum to be a bit buried in the mix as well as the bass itself. I find the reverb effects the vox very nicely and makes them sound haunting and moody.

As for the song itself, very well done. I too like the guitar solo's as well, very fitting indeed. I guess I woul like to hear the drums have a bit more presance in the tune as well. But that may just be a matter of tweaking the reverb a bit here and there.
