dont worry . You really cant ask stupid questions unless you repeat yourself alot. its good to ask questions here. A couple of quick questions: are you only recording vocals? do you plan on recording more like guitars and drums and stuff?

If your only recording vox then your good to go. I dont think mixers come with any cables, however the ones you would need depend on the card you get. Which card are you getting marmar?

Oh and welcome to HRC! Im pretty new but this place has been great!

A lot of people like some of the stuff by m-audio. For just vocals, the 2496 seems to work well, is not hella expensive, and leaves you the option of going to midi if you decide to do that at a later date.

oh, and welcome to HRC

Yea its great here cuz everyones willing to help you out.

All you need is a 1/4" cable for each input (the kind you use for guitars and stuff). the left out of the mixer will go into one of the anolog ins and the right out will go into the other. Theres a good article here under the tips section which includes a visual that'll make it a bit easier to see what im saying.

Hope that helps and good luck!

If you get the 2496, I'm pretty sure it doesn't have 1/4" connections. So you would connect your mixer to the soundcard with RCA cables (I'm pretty sure).

As for how do I know this stuff (not so sure I do, but...), I really learned a lot from reading this site every day.

funny observation. But uh, yeah, to me it looks like the tibetan monk that has just attempted to pass on some wisdom and is saying "take it or leave it, for I can do no more".

Most mixers will have a headphone jack, so you just plug your headphones in there. No extra cables needed.
