Recording Drum "wav" files.

My plan is to take my trusty (but not trustworthy....) Boss BR532 to my buddy's house and have hime hit his drums for me. I want to "sample" each and every drum, cymbal, hat etc. on the BR532, and then download these wave files into my PC for use with Leafdrums or similar. My question is:
How do I edit the wav files to make sure that the attack on each drum is where it needs to be - i.e. the "hit" will be right where I put it, without any pause before. Is this easy to accomplish? Is there a trick you know? The BR532 will record up to 32 virtual tracks, so I can separate the wavs easily (rather than having them all on one track). This should allow me some variations - closed-hat, open-hat, hat-sizzle, rimshot, cymbal bell etc. on top of the regular drums/cymbals.

I love the way his old kit sounds (a sparkly blue thing from the early sixties....)and I'd love to have his kit on my recordings. Unfortunately it's impractical to set up for recording real drums at my place, and impossible for me to take my PC to his. I want separate drums, not stereo mixes of the drum part (which I could do with the BR532 plus a mixer).

Anyway, 'scuse the ramblings....

My only advice would be to make sure to record different velocities of the different drum pieces so you can take some of the robotic drum machine feel out of the drum lines after you sequence it.

Also keep in mind that there are already some great sampled drum sets out there, recorded with top quality mics/pres in good acoustical environments.

just record what you can get there, then edit them with a wave editor so the start of the sample is the start of the sound. even better, get beatslicer ( www.homerecordingconnecti...tory&id=400 )
and itll take a track and slice it into samples for you!
