Hi, I have some mp3 backing tracks that I want to add my own guitar lead to, can anyone advise a simple program to allow me to import my stereo mp3 tracks and record an additional audio track then mix them to a wav or mp3 output to eventually burn to audio CD.

I dont need anything too clever as my needs are basic, intend to add the effects prior to input to the pc, I have a soundblaster 5.1 Platinum soundcard and have access to Cubase VST if this will do what I need.

As I dont have a lot of spare time to learn a complicated package I am looking for something which will be quite simple and straightforward and will allow me to be productive ina short space of time.

Thanks in advance

If you have a look in the Recording Directory under Freeware you will find several applications incuding these. And all are good little apps to begin with.

Aye - this is good stuff. I wish I'd known about this when I started as I started with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 - not a monster by any means in comparison to Cubase SX2 (in my opinion) but if I had started with someting like this - my learning curve would have been a little easier.

Give it a bash...learn the fundamentals then move on when you need to.

Good shout guys.

Coco.
