heres the score : in our house we've just got broadband. the main computer with the broadband connection isnt mine, but another one located downstairs. we bought a 3com wireless router, which we've connected up to that machine, and ive bought a wireless usb network adapter to pick up the signal off the router. this is working fine.

im getting a signal, i can connect to the router, but i dont know how to route the internet connection through it. when i set up a new connection in XP, how does it know to try and connect through the w-lan, and not the modem as usual?

tried googling it, but i cant find much there...

any ideas guys? i know its not a music thing, but itd be cool if you knew anything that might help...

Set the router to use the broadband connection settings that you got from the ISP, such as IP numbers and such. Use those settings as the WAN (Wide Area Network) settings in the router. The, set an internal IP (LAN - Local Area Network) on the router, which is probably already set 192.168.0.1 or something similar. set the other PC's to 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, etc and then in internet connection options in windows, set the LAN settings for each PC to use 192.168.0.1 to get it's internet access.

Or, that's the quick and dirty anyway.

hmmm, theres no software on the disc or anything to set it up...

the 'instructions' (one photocopied page) say you should go to your web browser, type in your IP address and set it from there, but thats not working funily enough.

time to give 3com technicalsupport some grief i think...
