hi, im new to all this digital recording thing so i could really do with some advice, ive been in various bands for a few years now and until now i've never considered doing my own stuff. i recently bought a mid-level laptop(60gb harddrive, 2.8mhz)and i thought instead af buying a 4-track i could use the pc. but i dont have a clue where to start. basically im after a cheap and simple way of putting down rough recordings and ideas onto my hard drive,i downloaded an evaluation of n-track and i have a mic input on my laptop, can i plug straight in with bass/guitar? and is this all i need to do what i want?
