Hey everybody, it's that time again. Critique!

I just recorded 4 new songs with my band, two of which are at www.purevolume.com/endermi You can stream them, but it will probably kill the quality, so I suggest downloading them. The two new songs are "Ladybug" and "A Road Called Nineteen". For reference, the other song on the site, Your Majesty, is from the last batch of songs I recorded so you can see how I've improved or totally lost my touch, whatever the case may be.

Thanks for taking the time to listen!

I love the Ladybug song. The instruments really draw you in with their various parts and the playing is excellent. You may not like this next comment, though.... the vocals seem to be repeating one series of notes over and over and over and over and over and over... That is the only thing that impacted me negatively when I heard it. The singer is good, but I got really tired of the repetition of those notes in the song. The bit I'm talking about appears at 4:15 and is repeated throughout the song.

19 - again, I love the instruments. I like how the vocals come in right around 2:15, nice intro. Your singer has a good voice and good pitch, but I would really like to hear more range, both pitch-wise and dynamically speaking. It seems that he sings at only one volume and although the vocal part suffices, it doesn't draw me in like the instruments do. The instruments are great, I love the way you explored the musical themes and expounded on them - I would like to hear the vocals do the same.

I like the songs, I like the playing, I like the style - but the vocals need more character and some more creativity to keep up. I would not say that the vocals are bad at all, the singer sounds pretty good, they just need to add more interest.

Lost for words with all to say.

I have to say that as a fan of this style of music, emo, I love your music.

There is two things I like to hear in these songs, both not major. If the drums where mic with a good set or brought out more, I think they would totally rock. At times, I feel like they are in the distance and want them more in my face. Did you get someone to do your mastering for you? I might change my mind about this because I'm listening on my laptop and not on my studio monitors at my house.

The other is I would love to hear the vocalist go up high on like the chorus or something. Very good vocals and I believe him having a higher range (if possible) would be awesome.

I loved it! Nothing to be ashamed of at all.

Thank you both for your input.

The drums are a bit soft, yes. I did that when I was mixing, somewhat unintentionally and I'd like to bring them up a little if i remix.

-I- am the singer, so eep! I try my best. I have a really deep voice so usually I AM singing as high in my range as I can. For example, in the bridge in ladybug "open up your eyes, morning bless your sight..." I was barely able to hit some of those higher notes. I'd like to sing higher, but I just can't.

I guess the vocals are kinda repetitive. There was some points when writing the songs where I could hear in my head the melody really soaring, but I couldn't reach it. I was meaning to keep the vocals sparse in 19, though. It started as an instrumental song and a melody just popped in my head one day so I decided I could slip a little in.

I didn't even realize I did that. Makes me sound smart or something=)

Thanks again to both of you for listening and giving me feedback. It's very appreciated.

Some really nice songs Dave! I liked ladybug probably the best, but I thought 19 was excellent as well. I'm going to listen to the other 2 later tonight, I was on my lunch hour when I listend to these first 2. :) Really an enjoyable listen!

I agree the vocals could use a bit more dynamics, excitement might be a better word, but I certainly understand the range limit, I struggle with that as well these days. Overall though I thought the vocals were very good and fit the type of music your doing well.

Your mix and sound is really good, nice tone on the guitars and drums, really outstanding job there.
