your a trip skot(lol)

Although it seems to take real talent to play an accordian, it's a pretty dorkie sounding instrument...I must admit.

*my apologies to polka lovers everywhere* :)

Agh! I'm from Louisiana, and an accordian is a necessary instrument for Cajun French music. As well a a violin (or fiddle, as we lovingly call it). It can actually be a pretty awesome instrument. Check out some good quality Cajun French music some day, you may actually be suprised at the sounds an accordian can make. It's not what you got, it's how you use it!

Correcttt GL..nae instrument is ti be scorned...

I tell yi this...I wish I could play a great many instruments folks would often slag off, hell I used to do it - til I realsied - musicians is musicians regardless of what yi play.

Having said that, I probably wouldny pitch up to a stadium rock concert with an accordian but Ive seen some guys over here play some cool stuff on one...like Highland Jigs etc...which by the way - go doon A STORM at Scottish Weddings...

Aye...power to the musos man.

Ha! I've got a buddy in Chicago that has a super heavy metal band and HE plays the bagpipes! And it actually sounds good! I cant imagine what it must look like to lug a set of pipes onstage with all the rest of the large amps and distortion boxes, but I laugh just thinking about it. But I also wont chastise any instrument. Hell, I've got harmonica's, a recorder, a shaker, a tambourine, and a frigging kazoo, and I love em all. There's no telling how many of them will end up in one of my mixes. But it sure will be fun finding out.

Actually, I remember my dad was a pretty good accordionist (?) when I was a lil guy. Sorry dad. You didn't REALLY bore me, but that thing used to scare the hell outta me.

I'm a fan of any instrument that's played well.

Aye...Hey Mr Flame..the point is..bagpipes ARE cool :-D

GL, thats cool - Ive heard pipes of all sound and description but there is nowt better than hearing a real pipe band playing a specific song with 20 pipers, 6-7 drummers etc - nae amps in sight!!

What a noise!!! I have always tried to make as MUCH noise as I can and there is nothing louder without an amp!

Canny whack it wi a big stick :-)

Hahahaha! The Washboard....Absolutely NECESSARY for Zydeco music. Looks like us Cajuns have cornered the market on every unloved instrument EXCEPT the bagpipes.

Uh....I dont really know how I feel about that!

Aye - tis true Flame me old mucka...they are HELLUVA noisey tho (pipes NO washboards hehehe).

I mean, If I head up the toon on a Saturday after a good peeve on a Friday night, I go along Princess Street all I hear is (BAD) busking pipers!!!

The best pipers play in bands and rarely busk. They earn shedloads doing 10-15 min gigs at weddings..maybes £100-£150 AT THE LOWEST for 10-15 mins.. NOW you see why I am looking at taking em up!!! Aye..tis a pipers life!!

I dunno, whilst the English have nae national instrument I must concede the greatest band ever hailed from doon there (tho I count Liverpool as closer to Scotland than anything else :-) And Paul has a McC in his name, and obviously Lennon was Irish decended (with some Scottish family) but I reckon George was truely from doon there!!).

But seriously - pipes are cool if very hard to play. If yi ever get a chance to try some, give em a go. If ye smoke like me, yi will have little to nae chance of even filling the bag!!! hehehehe

Good banter Flame...

Adios

Coco.
