Here it is, for those who don't know...

www.piranhaguitarbow.com

If you are looking for a violin kind of sound - get it. If you are looking for a new sound - get it. This thing is so neat... I love it! I was pretty skeptical, but thought I'd check it out anyway.... I do believe that I will always have one.

I'll post a sound clip soon (a day or two) but let me just say - it is a clear, unmistakably bowed string sound, loud and clear and musical. It works on electric or acoustic. It's NOT a scam, even though it costs $30, there are no sound samples on the website, and the website itself looks cheesy. (and there's no refund policy) Anyhow, I gotta run - but I just wanted to tell you guys about it.

I highly recommend this thing to all guitar and bass players everywhere. On guitar, it sounds like a violin, on bass, it sounds like a cello. (obviously not exactly like it, but the general timbre, feel, attack, and decay are the same)

Here is the link, as promised. It's me bowing my electric bass. So far, that's my favorite application for it.

Two things I should point out about this recording... first, you can't do any long, drawn-out notes with the bow, since it's about 3 inches long. (about 8 centimeters for you metric folks) Secondly, if you hear me pretty much sawing on the string, that's because I'm not that great at it yet, I just got it. I've never played a bowed instrument.
