another conundrum!
does anyone know of a good way (besides getting some properly expensive headphones) to avoid headphone noise? specifically when playing along to a click track on the drums. the snare and kick mics don't pick it up, but it does come through a bit on the overheads. and i can't really turn it down...
anyone?

If not try some of the tips listed already by searching the forums. I remember reading about an interesting technique. Get some ear muffs like the ones air controllers have and then use small earpiece earphones - maybe evn the new insulation ones. Maybe dB will give you the link to that thread as I cannot find it.

our drummer uses closed sennheiser canns and we suffer from no audiable bleed problems... :|

Apr 17, 2004 12:46 pm A drummer I just recorded went out and got some Sony earbuds and a cheep set of ear protectors (headphone style). Put the ear protectors over the buds and walla! He loves it.
Apr 17, 2004 08:50 pm I can sometimes hear the click coming through when the drums aren't playing, or at the end of a cymbal crash, but all you have to do is splice the track or put a gate on it in the places that there are no drums. Usually once all the instruments are in any bleed is completely inaudible so don't worry about it. Some decent closed headphones will do the trick.
