I was wondering if anyone has used these monitors before, if not if anyone knows anything about them at all. I am new to home recording, and as was thinking of purchasing these. Or may there be a more appropriate choice???

I use these speakers!

I am very pleased with the sound I get from them and I would highly recommend them. I paid £110 from Sound Control in Edinburgh and haven't looked back.

They are very whole sounding and fit nicely on my desktop! They also "look" good and they pack a nice punch even tho they are 10W per speaker...

Also a few connections on the back i.e. mini jacks, 1/4 (which I use with the soundcard I have).

Yep - go grab some and you wont be dissapointed.

For info, my studio is under the stairs...not priming with accoustic perfection but its the music that counts!! When I cut a killer CD and get signed to EMI, I'll worry about accoustics..til then...I'll go under the stiars!!

Can micro-monitors like these really get good bass response and accurate bass reproduction? It seems like they would be inherently weak in that area which would skew the mixing process.

As a rule smaller speakers are not able to produce low end that well, however, if the enclosures are designed properly and it is a high-quality speaker, it is possible. Remember, most subwoofers for home theatres from people like Bose actually have speakers in them that are only about 4". But, it the way that the sound is handled that makes it produce the stellar bass sound that it does.

I tore apart a subwoofer once and the way they are made is very clever, it totally changed the way I look at speakers. So it IS possible.

Hey coco. Did you try your mixes (that you made on these babies) on some other mediums? Eg. boom box, car, stereo's etc.. Was the mixing 'accurate'?

Aye..the mixing was fairly accurate.

Sounds good on my HIFI (Technics) and personal CD player (Panasonic) as well as my car CD player (Std Ford).

But its good yes..I canny complain. I actually really like the sound from the Edirol and its the "best" sound from the lot!! The speakers cost me £110. My HIFI cost £500. Personal CD £100...now...ordinarily, the HIFI SHOULD sound the best..but hell, I like the Edirols!!

The mix itself is quite accurate tho - although the Edirols are wholesome sounding, and with the crappy Technics EQ (good hifis but poor eq), I cant get such a whole sound (and I the HiFi is 5.1 surround).
