is it necessary to have a sound blaster product to use sound fonts ive been using sf2's for quite a while but i wanted to start using a different sound card such as a layla. is it posssible to use sf2?

Mar 02, 2004 04:28 am Whether or not you can play sound fonts depends on the application you want to play them in. I use sound font in my Dyad DXi softsynth and I haven't had an SB in over 5 years...matter of fact I just got my "5 year medal" from my "Sound Blaster Anonymous" 12 step group LOL

Mar 02, 2004 11:10 am if you already have a soundblaster, you can install two soundcards on the same computer. That way you can use your SB for processing soundfonts and your other card for recording. That's what I do (and boy do I use soundfonts).

Mar 03, 2004 10:53 pm And yes indeed, there are several player out there now that will use SF2 files. They are software smplers so to speak, liek the Dyad synth dB mentioned.

Mar 08, 2004 11:39 pm Fruityloops Studio Pro has its own soundfonts plugin that'll allow you to use it...its become the norm now looks like with these SF reader plugins!
