well right when i thought everything was working fine i started recording (with sonar 2) and when i listin back what i played is not in tempo with the metradome! this never happend before but now it is ....ahh boo hoo....I know whats happing i just don't know how to fix it ...

whats happening is that when i play my guitar it takes a while for the singel to get to sonar ...so i hear a delay. the first one coming from the sound card and the secound coming from sonar (witch is effected by dx effects and what ever) ....any ways before sonar recorded what i was playing and not the secound singal. but now its recording the secound singal....any ideas?

what you are dealing with is called "latency" (as you said the time the sound get from your guitar to the pc and back out) Sonar should make up for this. I would try profiling your hardware again, maybe trying a couple different kinds of drivers for your card (Sonar let's you do that doesn't it?) and try to get your latency as low as possible...your PC just must not be able to keep up with the latency your sound card puts out...

Next, the obvious question is what is your sound card and PC? Sorry if you have told me, I hear a lotof stuff every day here. You should fill out your "gear profile" in your profile, then we would be able to know that stuff to help us help you...

i have an e mu aps card, athalon xp prosseor, and sonar 2.0, now my emu aps card always had a problem with the latency, but sonar always fixed it. it some how set the metranome faster or something so that when i played it would record it like it was on time....but now it doesn't..(i reinstalled everything after i got my new motherboard and cpu) so every thing is not set up the way it was. theres something in sonar under OPITIONS/AUIDO/ADVANCED/SYNCHRONIZATION that says "timing offset [msec]" i think this might help, but don't i need to know my latnecy first?

i looking around at sound cards...is there any soundcard out there for under 600 that would provide zero latency with sonar? thanks

I had this same problem adn was never able to correct it. So, what I did was record the metrenome to its own track. Them when I listen back to something and add another track I don't get any delay. Worked for me, and it was a lot less frustrating than trying to figure out the FUBAR.

Yes, M-Audio card's all are set up to do zero latency monitering now. I have the same thing on mine and don't have any problem's at all. The thing is you need to monitor your live signal through a mixer or something, not through the application. As I said B4, it is not the application (Sonar) that is at fault, it is the sound card.
