L1 UltraMaximizer

Hey, anyone know if it's possible to buy the Waves L1 UltraMaximizer individually (without the rest of the Waves Native Power Pack). It seems that most of the links in this site to the dealers for Waves NPP are broken. How much does that puppy run anyway? -- or is it one of those if you have to ask you can't afford it deals?

I've got SONAR 2.2 XL, which has some pretty good plugins thrown-in. Would I benefit much from the other stuff in NPP (other than the L1 UltraMaximizer) ? Any opinions ?

The link in the gear bag works. www.homerecordingconnecti...st&cat_id=9 but it is too a discontinued version of NPP, here are links to two other versions that may or may not have the L1 service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear and service.bfast.com/bfast/c...mp;bfmtype=gear

They are expensive, I use Sonar and the L1, but the L1 isn't really meant for use in the multitracking environment, though many people do it, maximizing with this tool is often times best suited for mastering applications.

dB thanks,
Your comments just made me realize that the recording tool (like SONAR) is more real-time oriented, while mastering tools are more post processing oriented. I've been doing a lot of post processing in SONAR but I see now that a lot of these mastering tools come with their own project environment.

Is there any plugin that comes close to L1, yet priced in the <$100 range?

Yes - just turn up the volume of the track :D (cos that's all L1 actually does)

Well, thereis a LITTLE bit more to it than that...but that is essentially true it's sort of a smarter compressor and limiter combined...

OK How about the BBE Sonic Maximizer DirectX plug-in? How similar (or different) is it to the Waves L1 UltraMaximizer?

BTW, maybe this should come under 'Talkin Smack', but you would think that these effects S/W developers would try a little harder to cater to the home recording market (by lowering prices). I bet they would make a lot more $ of the higher sales volume.

May "home users" will simply stick with the FX that their sequencers comes with. Cubase and Sonar, for example, both come with nearly every plugin you would usually need.
