POD compressor question!?

jeez...ok, i am finally exploring the deep editing features of the POD. i checked out the compressor, and i'm baffled by the fact that it seems to have no threshold control. actually no attack or release either. just a ratio control. does anyone know what sort of functionality a compressor can even have without the ability to set these parameters? did the engineers just decide on suitable global settings for guitar in the name of keeping it simple? does anyone know what the POD is doing when you apply compression?

hey i know what you were saying about that high frequency weirdness. it came through big time on my bass, but i imagine that it's just some settings.

the POD compressor probably doesn't just have a ratio control. when i was using the Bass POD Pro, its compressor was supposed to be based off of the LA-2A compressor, and was just one knob that controlled BOTH threshold and ratio. that Blockfish plugin works the same way.

ok, but how does that work? just out of curiosity, can you explain what happens as you move from 1.4:1 to 6:1?

what would happen to the attack and threshold, for instance, as you move up?

i don't know exactly. best guess would be that the ratio and threshold both move in concert with each other as you go up, but i have no clue about the attack/release settings. now you have me curious too.

Yes, the attack and release will be fixed to preset values, then as you turn the knob, the ratio and threshold will both lower in tandem.

jues.
