Fruityloops Dilemma

I have had Fruityloops 4 since it came out. I have yet to use it in my Home Studio 2002. Because everytime I import something, the timing is messed up. I know it's probably a Sampling Rate problem. The manual say's that if you import a Wave file..it has to be the same Sampling & Bit rate as the Home Studio project that your importing it into. I checked..both the wave file and the Home Studio Match. Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have some advice or helpful hint's?

as long as the sample rate is the same you should be fine. Stick with 44.1kHz until you understand what it all means.

It could be something to do with the tempo settings in Home Studio. I use Cakewalk Pro Audio v9 and It will change my audio files when I change my tempo. Speed them up or slow them down, it was quite frustrating. Just be sure that when you start a new Cakewalk file to import your Fruity tracks into, you set Cakewalk's tempo to the correct tempo (whatever you chose in Fruity) first, and then things shoud line up.

If that dones't do it, maybe you could post an example up somewhere for us to listen? Good luck! -j

Well I don't know what recording app you use, I use N-track, but if it will let you run VSTi then that is how I would use FL 4.
I use FLStudio as a VSTi an then N-track controls the tempo, bit rate and everything. Works great!

Thanks for the reply Guys.***First, Jamie...YOU RULE DUDE!!! I got Fruityloops working in my Home Studio!! It was the Tempo. I had the tempo at 140 for the fruitloops file, but my Home Studio at the default setting of 100. Second, Still4given.. I use Home Studio to record with(if that's what you mean by recording app) That's cool that your recording app controls tempo, bit rate etc.. I guess it converts it, then brings the settings to where the tempo and everything is right. Home Studio 2002 converts the Wav file to match Home Studio's current project, but it doesn't set the tempo and everything. You have to do the Tempo yourself. Well anyway..thanks Guy's!!

ps. Now I have to see if messing with the tempo will affect the tempo on the vocals and the rest of the project! I'll let you guy's know what happens!

I'm recording kind of a..pop/light rock kind of thing. Somewhere between Michael Jackson and Alanis Morissette. Kinda goofy huh? The music is seriously electronic sounding. But it's really a Pop tune at heart. Hey flametheband, I was wondering what the story behind your name was..if you don't mind sharing it. Thanks

wrmach,

Does your "Home Studio" allow you to use VSTi instruments? If it does then you could use FL as one also. It will open up a whole new way to use it.

Cakewalk products only allow DXi unless combined with Project 5, then a VST adapter is installed that will allow VST options. That said, tho I am not sure of the exact options Home Studio has...

It appears that the options are the same with Home Studio. I'll be honest with you guy's; 'till dB Masters wrote about Project 5, I didn't think Home Studio could use anything else but DXi. Does anyone know if there are any big differences between DXi and VST? Thanks Guys!

VSTi is generally a lower resource hog on a PC, but when running a "wrapper" to fake out apps into thinking VST is DX, you are then using some of those saved resources with the wrapper, so it's kind of a wash...

With plugins I have tested many and sometimes the resource usage idfference is dramatic...with instruments (DXi and VST0) I am not sure if the difference is so big.

Well FL will work as a DXi as well so I would sure give it a try. It's really a very cool way of using FL.
