Does anyone here get Home Recording Magazine? It looks pretty cool. What do you think is the best magazine in that area?

It's a good rag, there are a lot of them. I hate it when people ask "what's the best of this or that" cuz it's all relative. If you are into MIDI and digital music, Electronic Musician might be best for you, engineering and such HRM might be best, then thereis our new sponsor, Music Tech who also ship samples and such with their rag, some ship CD's of shareware...

Like anything else, it's all what you want. HRM is a good mag though.

I'm diggin TapeOp. It's free because more than half of the magazine is advertisments. I guess I'm one of those guys that actually sits there and reads the ads. But it's totally targetted at the music recording professional, with interviews with all the big name producers and engineers. The latest issue of TapeOps's always in my book bag with me everywhere I go.

I'm the guy that goes to the mag stand on occasion and hangs out for a while checking out articles. I have gotton frustrated with every subscription that I have ever purchased. I hit the recording mags and the player mags. There are a lot of good articles on recording in both.

I got my first issue of Music Tech Magazine (the sponsor Loki mentioned) yesterday, and to be honest, it kicks butt. I am totally impressed with it. Tons of tips and reviews of hardware and software.

Something for everyone regardless of recording medium or experience level.

Sounds like a sales pitch I know, and maybe it is a little bit, but it's also true.

it's the multiple takes of the same instrument that let you use sample and still wind up sounding like you didn't

Yes, Music Tech is a great mag. I just got my first issue and really like it. I haven't had a chance to listen to the samples on the CD yet, but I'm sure they'll be great.
