Can i use the individual channel inserts somehow as direct outs for recording? I dont think this is possible, but it woulb be cool if i could pull it off. I would like to get an alesis hard disk 24track recorder and use my mixer. I know it can be set for a 4-bus insert, but i would want to use all of the ins that i could if i spent that much on a recorder.
Can i use the inserts on the channels as direct outs?
Thanks

Jun 03, 2003 06:03 pm Yes, that can be done, just run your connector in to the first click (if it's wired like every console i have ever used, anyway) and that will be the "out" connection.

Jun 03, 2003 08:42 pm Hmmm, you can in theory use TRS cables and have no real problems - however, you will have an extra Jack that will have no use (the one that should be used for the "Output from Device" path of the insert point).
I would just use standard cables and just do the first click, so to speak.
Failing that, if you are gonna splash out an HD24, then you may as well upgrade to a bigger console maybe....

Jun 03, 2003 08:57 pm i am kinda confused
when i go from the "direct outs" to the recorder, where would the outs of the recorder go? would i just go from 2 of the outs and go into my computers delta 44 for mastering? then how could i adjust the voumes of each channel as i am mastering? i dont know..
how would you set it up if you had the gear that i have, and bought the alesis hd24?
Thanks

Jun 03, 2003 09:26 pm Ouputs of HD24 plugged into Inputs of Behringer.
Insert Points linked to a patchbay (eg: the Behringer Ultra Patch Pro, PX2000) via TRS cables
Inputs of HD24 wired into patchbay.
This way you can now easily buss the signal from your mixing desk into the HD24 - you would also assign the groups to the patchbay.
However, at present you have 4 groups and the 2 master channels giving you a total of 6 assignable signals - do you really need to record more than 6 signals at once? (unless of course you are intending to do drums :)
