Does anyone know of a freeware program that will allow me to cut-up a .cda file.
I have a live performance that I want to lop-off the front and back parts of.
Your help is much appreciated!

Apr 10, 2014 01:42 am I think the best way is to open the .cda in something like Audacity (I think this should be possible). Then you can make any edits you like, and save the edited file as a .wav. You can then burn the .wav to a cd if you like or save as an mp3.

Apr 10, 2014 02:36 am Thanks for the reply Coolo. I've tried Audacity and it doesn't open a .cda so I'm still looking.
Apr 10, 2014 08:48 am The best bet, as I see it, is to rip those files to wav, and there are many freeware apps to do that, Format Factory would be my first recommendation, it will convert most any format to most any other format of audio and video formats...then, edit the wav file and re-burn it to a cda.

Apr 10, 2014 11:54 am Yup as stated by dB you have to rip the files first.

Apr 10, 2014 03:01 pm Just downloaded and tried Format Factory. Doesn't open a .cda, just like the others. Any other suggestions?

Apr 11, 2014 01:17 am Is the file not on an audio cd?
Apr 11, 2014 11:28 am Yeah, assuming it's on an audio CD (where else are CDA files?) it should be an easy rip with hundreds of tools out there to do it.

Apr 11, 2014 09:28 pm Thanks guys! I took a second look at Format Factory and found where it would open/convert .cda. to .wav
Am I able to open this single .wav file in X3? And if so, how?
You guys are great! Big help, really appreciate it!!

Apr 11, 2014 09:41 pm Obviously, now that I know how to use format factory. If there is another way of slicing this file let me know.
Thanks again!

Apr 12, 2014 03:21 am I don't know what X3 is, but I know for sure that if you are able to get a .wav file, you can open that in audacity and edit there. If you just have to cut the front and back, editing shouldn't be too hard, and you can probably figure it out by playing with it.

Apr 13, 2014 03:22 pm Glad it worked out for you!
And don't sweat it, we all had simple (in hindsight) questions at one time.
If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Apr 13, 2014 06:35 pm LOL, well, "*******" might be a bit hard on ya, but, whatever the case, glad it worked out for you.
