Another sci-fi track started:

So HG Fortune just released "The Tiger Synth" And it has some nice deep very ambient pad sounds included. The free version is a bit limited, but I've been messing with it a bit, and it's pretty cool.

I've layered the tiger with some string pads in the free Alchemy player, and started a foundation for a new ambient track. I was also messing with RPS-1 for the drum loop (which I need to make more varied and interesting)

So yeah, the track I've uploaded on soundcloud is very bare bones, and more of a foundation for adding stuff on than anything else. I Plan to add a bass synth, possibly an arp/lead sound, or go another route and possibly merge in some orchestral elements.

The goal is to create a track that would fit, say, a credits rolling for a sci-fi flick, or possibly a menu interface for a sci-fi game, like a space combat sim, or something like Mass Effect.

Anyway, the here's the link to the soundcloud. http://soundcloud.com/j-bot-1/work-in-progress-needs-a-title

and no I don't have a title yet lolz.

I'm not really intending to turn this into a collab project. Just saying hehe.

creates a mood for sure mate, i like it. def credit rolling material, will leave you feeling empty and dark at the end....again, i like it.
I have choir software, if need anything like that in there hit me up, you could send your midi files and i could run it thru the EWSC softy and give it back to you.

I donno about credit music but definitely menu music. I can imagine creating my own character with this playing in the background for sure. Great job.

EDIT: deleted the old track and uploaded an updated version. Added a bassline, and the tentative title is "Fade Into Black." Still have plans to develop it more.

Thanks guys. And thanks for the offer on the EastWest Choirs. Might just take you up on that if I go that route. The sampletank freebie I have has a wordless solo female soprano which sounds okay. It's a little synthetic sounding, but does the job. In the past for choir, I've layered a couple free soundfonts I have. The papel media choirs, and the KBH which were the choirs from Battle for Wesnoth. (which was an indie RTS game) with the solo female on top of the layer to help flesh it all out. It takes a bit of work/mixing/tweaking to get it all to mesh well.

I tell ya though, one choir VSTi I would possibly kill for is Cinesamples Voxos. The phrase builder isn't as complex as the east-west choir, but it features enough options to make it pretty useful. The software runs about $1K USD though >_< Or the digital download from their site is $800. Still too rich for my blood though haha. Still, it's some very capable software.

(has some product videos and demo songs)

But I'll digress.

Ok, I see what quickxkid was talking about for menu music. Also, I see it as scene music in a movie... during the serious part where the main character is traveling or preparing for the final showdown or something like that. Or Dematrix makes a good point too, leaves you feeling empty at the end of the movie where the aliens take over the planet and the heroes failed, or something like that. Really cool stuff!

Sounds good man. It definitely has a sci-fi sound to it. I really like the distorted drums.

Okay, fiddled with this one a bit more, and I'm pretty happy with how it is sounding right now.

Hope I posted the new soundcloud integration properly. xD

Edit: success!
