Who does your logo?

I don't have an 'official' studio but I'd like to have a logo for it. I call it Kanjo Studio and want a logo for it that looks cool.

Does anyone have any ideas on one? Everytime I make one with Word Art or Paint or whatever, I think it looks dumb but then again I'm not an artist.

I'd rather have it done for free or very low cost. It's just something I may put on a shirt or just hang up over my Studio for my own viewing pleasure :)

I generally do my own graphics, though the HRC logo was originally done by a former HRC member.

I'm pretty "gimp" savvy. What are you looking for in the logo? Classic look? Modern? Gorey? Chrome? This can go in any direction, but I have no idea what style music you promote.

Nothing really in mind. Probably more modern or classic than gorey. I play mostly blues influenced rock (Pink Floyd) or progressive style music.

Hey Hippie, is that offer good for me too? I could pay you a little but I'm a little strapped at the moment. If you're feelin' up to it send me an email at quincyDOTwoffordATgmailDOTcom. You'll never catch me alive, SPAMbots bwahahahaha!!! Alright back to work...

Sure man... I'll hit ya up on email then. Same question applies to you as well: What are you looking for and what's the name you want on it?

@ Jovhato
I've got two designs already in the works. I'll post them online for ya later today on my file share.

United Musicians Development Center is the name of the project, UMDC for short. The website is in development and it's taking forever, likely because the budget I gave him isn't very inspiring...but hey, a toll is a toll, and a roll is a roll, and if we don't get no tolls, then we don't eat no rolls. Maybe not the most appropriate quote...anyway, here's the WIP

www.joelschlotterer.com/UMDC

I don't particularly like the hue's he chose for the browns and greens, but the website will be primarily brown/green. A black/monochrome logo with a transparent background would be great.

I'm looking for a 'classic' logo style. Even the initials UMDC could be cool if they were arranged in an artistic way. I'm completely open to your interpretation.

OK.. so here's two I put together for Jovhato. I must explicitly state here that I won't be offended if you don't like them or aren't "feeling" them. I just like dicking around with GIMP, so I whipped these up in like an hour. Pretty simple stuff, yet has a sort of elegance and professional look. The point here is... you can use these as building blocks (i.e.. like the speaker, but not the flames or vice versa).

@Quincysan...

Well the good news is... he's using wordpress!! There's like a gazillion templates you can simply download and install if you don't like what you got.... or if you just don't like the colors, simply edit the CSS file with the colors you prefer. Wordpress is awesome.. and to be honest, you could probably do it yourself. It's all pre-set templates and plugins. Just drag n drop!!

Damn, not half bad there, Hippie. Bytemixsound could use some logo lovin' too. Only do it if you want, but I'm thinking like an audio waveform fading into bitcode (1's and 0's) or something along those lines.

My site's in my profile, but it's www.bytemixsound.net
The only real graphic up right now is a grayscale chop-job of some photos I had of myself and equipment, which I cropped and glued in gimp. I'm no graphic artist though lol.

@ J-bot...

Easy enough. I actually have a paintbrush that paints a binary graphic! I'll have something for you later today.

Sweet! They're both awesome. I think I'm going to use the second one. They're both great but I like the font and the meter look :) Thanks a whole lot! You wouldn't happen to have a higher rez version would you?

Edit: And I'll make sure to give credit where it's due!

I like the second one, but yeah, they are both really cool.

Sweet. Thanks a bunch hippie. 'tis much appreciated. I'll post a blurb in the news spot to mention ya, and I'll find a spot on the site to give credit. Probably in the footer :)

Here's two more concepts for J-Bot and Quincysan.

For J-Bots, I pretty much took the blue from your website plus the elements of pink in your pictures (as well as your idea) to create this. It has more of a modern/fast look to it. I'm not a huge fan of it, but this is all I could think of in a short time frame I had today.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5535054/bytemixSOUND.gif

For Quincysan... I didn't want to go over the top. It has more of that epic classic move title or some ****... I dunno. Based on your website layout, this may even be too large.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5535054/UMDC.gif

I reiterate.. these are just concepts. I'm not offended if you think they look like bear ****. My mood changes daily which affects how I dream up this stuff... so reworkings are usually a given anyway.

Cool. I like the work of the image itself, and that font can work fine for now, unless you can find or think up something more I dunno..."techy/computers" or something. But it does not look bad at all.

Both of em look pretty good to me.

Edit/Update: Okay, got the logo into place, had to create a block to keep the old image I had up there since I wanted to keep it around as well.

Anyway, Hippie is counted in the credits at the bottom of the pages, and I went and linked to Cynonyte's myspace page in the credits. (assuming you still play for them?) I also updated the news with a quick blurb giving props. If the image is updated, I simply have to re-upload, and everything will be hunky-dory haha.

@ J-Bot...
I have another rendition complete with computer/geek font and hi res @ about 900 px wide (for your page header). I think its cleaner looking, so you'll like it. Unfortunately, I can't upload the image to my share where I'm at, so you'll have to wait until later today. Thanks for the props too.. (and yes, I'm still in the band =).

@ Jovhato
Unfortunately, I didn't make the image large to begin with, so I can't get you a hi res without recreating. If its a must have, I can try to recreate. Let me know.

I really like the font and the placement of the text. Definitely has that classic look I was hoping for. I also like the way the guitar and the main text shading gives it a sense of depth, but I think more graphic lines and less texture would look best on a business card. Have I mentioned how much I appreciate this? Life's got a way of letting me be when I'm flush and coming at me like a freight train with 'roid rage when I'm strapped for cash. I'm dodging some trains right now, hah.

Thanks again!

Alrighty.. probably won't be around over the weekend, so I thought I'd throw these out there for ya.

@ J-Bot: Cleaner, more techy....

@ Quincysan.... Less textures... WHAT!!!

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5535054/UMDC_BLOODY.gif

Ok... OK.... here's your clean PNG. Put it over any colored background and it will really pop out.

Any chance you could make this a "png 24"? Wordpress guy asked. I assume he means a truecolor 24 bit png?

Oh man... I totally forgot you needed a 24-bit PNG. Had you not posted again, I would have never remembered (thought this post was long dead!!). I'll not only email you the file, but I'll include a few more ideas (other fonts you might like better).

I actually looked into this... and it seems like the PNG file I sent you should already be 24-bit (maybe). I googled how to create a 24-bit PNG in Gimp and all kinds of weird steps to take. I may just email you the XCF file so you can explore this further. The only problem is... you won't have the fonts so you'd have to find and download them as well. I won't keep ya hanging; I'll figure something out!!

So I guess the guy said 24 bit png when what he really meant was a png with a transparent background. I thought the one you posted had a transparent BG? Curious, what's the name of that font? He wants to use it in some other site images.

Thanks, F-18.

That PNG I posted should indeed have had a transparent background (which is why it appears to be a white background when I posted the link in my earlier comment). Regardless, if you want to give it a go with gimp, the font was called "Dubba Dubba." However, there's a few other fonts that looked pretty good too including "Binner," "Nickerbokker," and "Copasetic."
