My band is considering selling our 32 channel analog board and buying the presonus studiolive 24.4.2. Do any of you gauys know anything about this board? We have been doing some recording work lately on the cheap and we need a digital converter which this board provides. We would also like to record our live performances multi track which it looks like this board will do. It looks to me like it will record 24 tracks simultaneously. Is that true? I'd love to hear opinions on this board.

Nov 30, 2010 02:50 pm I just spoke to one of my co workers that use to sell this system.
He told me that it will do 24 separate tracks via the Presonus software, @ 44.1. IT a tracking software that Presonus developed. Now, it's pre everything. So, no comps, or gates will be in the recording, nor will there be any FX's, unless you make the FX's it's own track.
You can then dump the file in real time to Cuebase or whatever software you wish. But, you can not just import the file.
As far for his opinion of the board, he said that it was a fine board for what your looking to do with it.
Dec 01, 2010 07:53 am So when you say that it's pre everything, does that mean that the recorded tracks won't include each channel's eq, reverb etc?
Dec 01, 2010 03:50 pm Correct.
Dec 01, 2010 09:35 pm i've had the firestudio interface for a year and a half now and have had zero issues with it....also have a blue tube preamp again no problems...so i'm a happy customer of theirs....for bang for the buck in the "budget" category i'm thoroughly satisfied with them on the whole, i would definitely turn to their product line before Behringer or Samson (although i have no real beef against Samson).
Jan 03, 2011 08:46 pm I still haven't taken the plunge. I was reading the Presonus website again and saw the following:
Recording made easy.
If you have a computer with 6-pin FireWire, you have a 26-track digital recorder instantly ready to capture your gig, church service, or presentation. Just two mouse clicks engages Capture™ recording software. Studio One Artist™ digital audio workstation lets you edit and enhance to your heart’s content.
StudioLive 24.4.2 features a tightly integrated FireWire interface that delivers up to 32 channels of recording and up to 26 channels of simultaneous playback. Each FireWire recording channel can be set to record either pre- or post-Fat Channel signal processing, delivering total flexibility and power.
Because StudioLive 24.4.2 can so easily return FireWire playback channels from your computer, you can pull off nifty tricks. You can soundcheck your band and fine-tune the P.A. in a new venue, even when the band’s not there yet. Or create backing tracks at your studio and seamlessly blend them with live performances.
The paragraph before the last one seems to suggest that you can record post eq effects etc. Am I right about that.
