Crossover

We have a Behringer CX3400 crossover that we just bought and haven't used yet. I have a pair 15" Peavey full range Hisys 2s and a pair of 18" Subs. What is a good setting for the Crossover.
It,s a bit confusing as our Peavey’s are 15” with horns. If we go the 2 way option you can only use the hi outputs would that be enough to make use of the full range Peavey’s.

Hey Decker.

On a normal 2 way crossover, you suppose to use the highs for the top box, (Here your Peavey 15") and the low out for you subs.

Reason being that the crossover point will send the remainder of the frequencies that are not going to the sub, to you Peavey's.

Since your top boxes are 15", I would say that 100hz is a good starting point for your system. This way, everything that is below 100hz will go to the sub, and everything above will go to the Peavey's.

The next thing that I would do, is to turn down the send for the High's on the crossover down about -6 dB. This will give the subs a chance to come up in power, and not over run the subs.

Let me know how you make out.

Huh, I was going to come in this morning and say 125-150 crossover point, but figured I'd wait for somebody who actually knows what they are doing...glad to hear that I wasn't too far off.

Go me!

With a 12" top, I usually go with 125 - 150hz. But, a 15" can handle a little bit more.
