i was listening and watching a spectrum analizer while listening to Again and Again by Taproot. the intro to the song has a drum machine followed by a distorted guitar. the distorted guitar sounds is very low in pitch (the guitar is in Drop A) and i can play it just fine..but i can't get the tone it has....the bass is cut totally out of it and its all mid rangey. but it dosn't sound like it the midrange was boosted or anything . it sounds naturaly midrangey. the lowest frequencey of it is around 670hz and the highest is around 5000. if anyone knows this song and could tell me how to achive this song please help me. i have a pod and a flextone 2 amp if this helps

Well to be honest Brock, part of the tone he is getting can be attributed to the guitar and the pickups he is using. You dont state what the guitar you are using is, or the type of pickups. I believe he is using a humbucking type pickup on that track. As far as telling you exactly how to emulate it, that is a stretch. He is using a differant guitar then you and probably a differant amp. I would suggest using the Flextone for sure, and mic it up. Then it is a matter of tweaking untill you find the tone you are looking for. There is really no magic formula to do this. You have the right idea using the anilizer to find the apperant tones, but from there you will need to use your ears to guide you to the proper cuts and boosts to get there.

i got a strat with a humbucker in it (bridge) i don't know what kind of pick up but it was in the guitar when i got it. its werid casue it dosn't say FAT STRAT or anything it just says what all the rest of the strats say oh the head stock. i will try micing the flextone with a sm57 when i get home for i am at school. i've been using the pod till now to try to get this sound. by the way..you listen to taproot noise?

brock. he used a cs2 boss pedal for that intro. mike dewolf used a les paul and a yamaha strat copy while recording that album. The amp was simulated by a line 6 ax212 or whatever it is lined out of the amp straight into a trinity board and eqd on the board. really cheep album, and well produced for the amount of time they recorded it in. im glad to see they have lifted a little bit more in the last few years. but dude...id say go for YOUR sound. :)

thanks for all that info that was awsome, how did you learn all of that. i love the sound of that cd, the screams are a little to compressed thou..i hurd that his yahmaha guitar had a longer scale for his a tuning. i'm disagreeing with jues on new taproot sucking...they show a different side to there sound...you can tell they didn't do it for comersial reasons
