I just installed Sonar 8PE on my PC. I am using a 24-BIT/96K Presonus Firepod Recording Interface. 2 Questions:
1. Should I use the WDM Drivers or the latest ASIO4ALL drivers??
2. I have set both the WDM and the ASIO drivers to 24bit, 48000 I get a error saying that the Soundcard is not compatible and it is downgrading to 44100. And at the bottom of my track screen it says I am in 44.1khz,16-bit. What could be the problem here??
I just went into Firepods Control Menu and set it to 48000 and now Sonar is seeing it at 48000, 16-bit? Now just to get the 24 or 32 bit. Any clues??

Feb 07, 2010 12:35 pm Ok, I just found Global Settings and changed the record to 24-bit and left the Render at 32-bit. This fixed that particular problem?? Is that good settings for those two?? Also, is 48000 a good setting??

Feb 07, 2010 03:38 pm You should use the Firepod ASIO driver or WDM which ever works best for you (usually ASIO), ASIO4All is for cards such as Onboard Audio, SBlasters etc, and is really just a wrapper that uses the WDM driver of a card.

Feb 08, 2010 10:04 am Yeah, I'd typically go with whatever driver type offers the lowest latency, or best performance. It seems many manufacturers are better at one that the other. I typically prefer ASIO, but there are some cards that WDM simply works better for them.
48000 is fine...if your PC can handle it, record as high of resolution as possible.
