Ok, I'm going to sound ignorant, but what exactly is sampling and how do I do it? I know that it's like taking clips of various sounds and using them in music but that's about it. Do I need one of thouse AKAI type samplers to do it? Can I do it in fruityloops?

Apr 17, 2003 12:23 am Yea, In fruityloops: you right click on a track: import a sample, and set it to one of the tracks, and you have the track designated to that sample. I dont know how clear

Apr 17, 2003 12:41 am you can use sonic foundry acid to put samples together. here's a page with tunes that i did using that method:

Apr 17, 2003 02:44 am well I've got some .wav files iw ant ot use as samples in fruityloops... but they don't work?
Apr 17, 2003 05:41 am they don't work? explain exactly what you're doing and I'll try to help. I'm all about samples of found sound and drum hits and stuff. as long as its a wav there should be no problem. fruity can do it.
if you think they might be corrupt or something, try opening them in wavelab and resaving them. that has repaired some screwy wavs for me in the past that were crashing WinMP.
Then do what Dan said, right click a channel and assign that new sample. trigger it like you would any other sample.
Yeah, an MPC3000 would be sweet, but there's not a whole it can do that fruity can't. except for maybe get real portable! let us know exactly what's going wrong
