Like is there any danger or harm in using my monitors to listen to youtube or itunes or anything like that? I don't see why it would hurt, just wanna make sure.

Aug 09, 2009 10:11 am I can't imagine *not* using whatever your monitoring system is for typical usage. It can take months of daily use to be able to relate to a monitoring system - Years in some cases. The less you use them (the more you use other systems) the longer it takes to understand how they react.
Immersion with occasional diversion (just like if you were mixing all the time) is the quickest way to learn them and the best way to hold on to it.
Aug 09, 2009 12:10 pm cool. Just wanted to make sure. And yeah, sometimes things sound better, but sometimes they sound much worse too... I can really hear small subtletys (can't spell it...) on a lot of things that I didn't notice before... Pretty cool actually
Aug 09, 2009 07:55 pm I have a small set of Samson Resolve 40As. I did a few recordings with them, and lets just say I had a A LOT of flat mixes with no drive or punch. I started listening to my mp3s and watching my DVDs with them (music and movies - I do video work as well).
My mixes got better and better as I knew more of what they where able to do. I trained my ears because of them, I of course have room to grow with them, but I learned a lot off of just listening through them. Especialy with my low ends.

Aug 10, 2009 12:12 pm Heck yeah, I actually use my interface and my monitors as my PC sound card. Love it for my games, so clear and crispy.

Aug 11, 2009 07:46 pm I as well try to do as much on mine as I can. Listening here or to demo's sent to me. I do it all in here. Even watch a movie on occasion in here. Concert movies though, gotta keep within reason. :-)
