Size of wave file?

I've just completed a song in Cakewalk Pro AUdio 8. Ive completed the mixdown to stereo tracks -added a bit of compression etc and then save as wave file. However, the size of the *.wav file is about 107MB. It is a 5 min long song with approx 5 instruments and vocals. This seems too large. I would only get about 7 songs to a CD if other songs are of comparable sizes.

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Andrew

basic rule of thumb for 16-bit44/1kHz stereo wav file is 10MB per 60 seconds of audio. So I am assuming you have it in a higher resolution wav file. Is that true?

Sorry I forgot to provide that info. It is recorded at 16 bit 44.1kH. Although I will check it is not 24 bit.
Thanks

Yeah, sounds like it is recorded at 24bit - hence the files being twice the size that they should usually be.

You will need to dither these down to 16bit before burning them to CD.

jues.
