For MAC, right?

hmm, don't really know for that front. There's some spendy ones, that probably work on mac. Guitar rig, amplitude, others.

Deon, kvr will fill that void for sure. They have tons, and I mean tons of software synthes.

i had just a squiz, yep you said it. there are heaps.

Hey Noize, when i download these do i go bout setting them up in the same way as described above?
just put them into my vts in cubase plug ins page?

i dont beleive there is anything in the manual on this but would it just be drag and drop?

Yes, just drag the .dll file into the VST folder.

Unless it has its own .exe for set up which some do that have files with it it needs to install with it such as samples and the like.

But most are simply drag and drop the .dll and your good to go.

ok the problem i got now is...(its always something wid this dude)
i dont have clue which plug in does what.

i would like to get a "glitch" one but it just keeps sending me around in circles trying to find it.

also Noize, do they have plug ins, where you can take a sample of ya voice and put it thru a processor and use it with a keyboard?

kinda like a cheesy casio 80's type keyboard/voice thingy?

Deon, describe what you mean by glitch in more detail.

To me a glitch is usually something funky that happens like a skip or something.

I know they have a few sampler type pluggins there. I see if I can narrow a search down a bit for you later. I've learned their search engine's query pretty well so hopefully I can narrow down a few different plugins for you that might do the trick.

Although be warned that often times the amount of free goodies changes.

Deon, here is a the Vocoder page at KVR. There are a few items there that might do what you want.

I suggest grabbing the free pluggo bundle as it contains a load of goodies including a sampler and vocoder and the like. Lots of tools to twist stuff out of shape with.

Thanks Noize.
the glitch prog i was talking about makes freaky digital noises. i actually have a free one here but not for a mac.

I have one in mind from the site you suggested, sounds like it could be cool.

Ya, there are tons of those types on KVR for sure. I found one on another site years ago that was exactly that. Not sure if it was ported to the Mac or not though. I'll take a look later today and see. Its in my archived folders probably with the addy for the site it came from as well. I'm kinda anal like that.

well i dug out some old Computer Music discs and found a whole heap of stuff, but only really Wav. files, nothing i could use so much as a VST.

i was a little peeved actually, they had all this hype on the front of the disc about this about and that being on it, but software wise there are whole folders with nothing in them.

plenty of demo stuff of course.

there is this one master plug in called
multi dynamic 5 which i also got as a demo on Cubase 4.
dunno if you've come across it before Noize, but i really like it. it puts a nice warm edge on the track and gives it a more anologue kinda sound too, kinda sticks stuff together really well.

I don't know about the disc's that you get over there. But here I have had a good many with at least one or two freebies on them. And the CM or Muzy as it was called package is pretty good. Is that on any of your disc's? It is usually on every disc here.

And ya, I have tried that plug. Not used it though since I got the PSP Vintage Warmer and now the C64 with Sonar.

i downloaded a couple of things, can i ask you Noize, a sequencer, is that the same as using automation?

also, i cant believe Cubase 4 wouldnt come with a vocoder. I cant find one on mine, unless its called something else.
i did download one, dunno how good it is though. is suppose a vocoder is a vocoder though.

sequencer lets you set hits, to play a pre-determined sound.

fer instance, FL Studio is a well known sequencer, where you have a kick track, snare track, and hihat track. On each down beat (1), you set a hit for the kick. On every (3) beat, you set a hit for the snare. For every beat (1,2,3,4) you set a hit for a hi-hat.

Go here www.flstudio.com/documents/what.html and click on the image. You'll see the step sequencer in the top right window.

Automation is a way to control parameters of a track. Some examples of controllable parameters: volume, pan, eq settings, compressor settings, amount of a plugin, etc.

Often, automation is displayed over top of a track, as a line. The line represents how much of a parameter is present. So a volume automation, you can move the line up in places, to be louder, and move the line down in places, to be quieter.

here's an example, you can see the volume goes up, then goes back down at the end.

Another way to think about it: A drum machine is a specific type of sequencer.

It's just a way to trigger sounds to play by programming in patterns in a specific sequence.
