Anyone know how? It's supposed to be in Options-->Settings-->System. I don't see anything there marked "disable" or the like.

from my brief bit of research

filext.com/file-extension/PK

it seems the PK file is the visual representation of the audio waveform.

why do you wanna disable this feature?

I think the setting is under Display not System. You'll know you have the right tab when you see a button for 'Rebuild Wav Display'. I wouldn't turn it off though it will take Audition much longer to load/display sessions with it turned off.

I have mine turned off. It takes the sessions a little while longer to load, but to me it's worth it not having all those annoying little .pk files in my session folders. I guess it's a matter of preference.

daddy, peak files store info about the .wav files and make them faster to upload. Why I want to turn it off is because Cool Edit saves all peak files into the same folders as the .wav files. They're useless to me and clutter up my session folders.

Dan, I don't see any setting like that in "Display." According to the Help there should be a box marked "Save Peak Cache." I'll be damned if I can find it.

Hit F4 to bring up the settings box. Under the Display tab, there it is on the bottom right. Click pic to enlarge.

Thank you. I'm not noticing it taking longer to oupload files. I'll sure be glad to not have those peaks clogging up my folders.

Alot depends on how many tracks your working with as far as load/display times along with the speed of your computer.
