Behringer UB1832FX Pro Eurorack 18 Input Mixer with FX . . . it has only 6 XLR inputs... cant i use the other PL or 1/4" Jacks to put mics in? also, will it be compatible for what i want to do with my MR-8?

I want to put Mics 1-3 in one input of the Mr-8 and 4-6 in another input . . will it be compatible for that kind of job?

sorry if i always ask questions, i just need answers cause im going to have to order it in musicians friend then ship it to my aunt's house and ship it here in the philippines..

use the XLR's for all 6 of your mics and put the MR8 into the line channels, if you need an adapter use one. Then assign 1-3 to the sub-out and pan them hard left, the other mics and the MR8 assign to the sub-out and pan them hard right, then hook up the sub outs to your sound card line ins.

Don't worry about asking questions, that is kinda what this forum is for. :-)

i wont plug it in my soundcard, im gonna use the Compact Flash that comes with the mr8.. what im planning is mic's 1-3 to one subout, 4-6 to one subout, then plug 1-3 into first input of mr-8 then 4-6 to the other, then save it into the CF then convert it to WAV in my computer then Master it there, put some effects then Burn away.. good idea or bad? you said to pan the 1-3 to the left.. does that mean that mic's 1-3 will only be heard in the Left speaker or earphone when i play it back??

yep...panning is when you position certain tracks or inputs to either the left or right in a stereo mix

so yeah, in the case db described 1-3 would be offet to the left

Let me explain a little better. You pan left and right while recording in order to get the mic 1-3 and the mic 4-6 on different tracks. Then, after they are recorded and you start playing them back to mix them down, pan them both back to the center so they will be mixed down in the center of the stereo field.

The hard panning is just a little trick to get two sound source (or in your case 7 with the MR8) to be recorded on two spearate tracks, rather than thinking about the outputs as left and right, think about them as out 1 and out 2.
