Ok, here is another acoustic bit that will be going on the...

"CptTripps holiday extravaganza collection 2007" due for release this holiday season!!!

But really, I'm gonna take all the BS songs that I usually don't let people hear and put em on a CD for folks to laugh at.

This one is called "Beautiful Man" and is 100% about being stuck up and thinking your "da bomb". My question is this... I have two parts where I skat (I think it's called) and I am considering removing the second and adding some harmonica. I've heard someone from hear on a recording and I thought it would fit well, take a listen and tell me what you think.

As with all my dumb songs, the music is so so as the lyrics are the real key to enjoyment.

Music is so-so???? Captain, that guitar playing is pretty awesome. Almost has a Doobie Brother kind of feel.
Great recording, too. Much better than anything I've ever done, AND I'M DA BOMB!!

Agreed...this is cool! It's better than anything I've ever done too!

I'd go for a harmonica break instead of the second scat...not because I don't like scat but because I love harmonica. Your scat singing, and singing in general is awesome.

This baby's goin' on the iPod!

Ok, so here's another question, which one of you gents would bless me with some harp if I post up another version without the second scat?

And also, thanks for the kind words, I've heard more good music on this site than elsewhere, that and yall are extremely knowledgable folk, thats why I stick around!!

Thanks again.

And yes, you are Da Bomb!!

That's excellent CptTripps! Awesome sound on the acoustic and great playing, I'd screw that up a dozen times trying to make it all the way thru the song. Vocals are perfect for the song, I agree on adding some harmonica.

I have a harmonica but I don't think I could play it well enough to do it, but I'll give it a try if the song is in the right key for my harmonica (G/C)

Agree with the above comments...excellent job. And the music is spot-on (as are the lyrics).

I'll play around with some harp tomorrow and see what i can come up with. It's really late here (3:36) and my roommie is sleeping, otherwise I'd give it a whirl right now. What key is the song in?

I like it. Very clear and clean. I didn't know that vocal soloing was called "Scat"... learned something new. I would love to get my acoustic guitar sounding like that when recorded. I like where everything is sitting in the mix too. Listening to this lets me realise just how amateur I am at this stuff, hehe.

That was my thought exactly! And then I listened to Thermocaster's "leaked" album and I nearly jumped out of a window.

Wow, thanks all. I've had this song done for over a month and was afraid to post it. I'm extremeeeely critical of my own work though.

Anyway, it's just a 4 bar blues in E (although I extended one part to fit the lyrics) so I believe the harp needed would be an A? yes? anyone? I will open it up tonight, remove the second scat and post it back online for some harp additions. And olddog, didn't you record the harp on that bit awhile back that had the frankendrum setup (carboard kick an what not)? I thought that was really good and fit perfectly.

Acoustic tone was captured, once again... using the K2 about 8" away right where the neck meets the hole. I used the ART V3 set on it's acoustic setting. That is all. I played the rythm twice, panned it, threw a little solo on and called it good.

I now must go check out Thermocasters leaked album after Jims comment!

Seriously, you should be happy with what you've got here. It's got a kind of quasi-SRV thing going on...sorta like "Life by the Drop", but more liquid.

I was listening earlier and started riffing with the A harp on it...dirty stuff, man. Dirty. Bring on the edited version!

Tripps!!!!!

Thats great, I'm glad I held off burning the next HRC mp3 disc for the car as this ones going on as the lead track. I agree with the SRV touch to it. And its kinda got a Dave Lee Roth (Icecream Man sorta feel to the vocals. Your voice rocks this tune out for sure. And the mix is awesome, I can't think of one thing I would change on it at all. Oh ya, other then the possible addition of the harp solo.

I gotta agree indeed I have heard more good music here in the last 3 months. Loved the lyrics too, that may have been part of what gave made me think of Roth as well.

Cool, I'm down with the Roth although never really listened to SRV. I went visiting some friends with the fam last night and did not get it edited. I'll try again tonight as I want to hear that dirty stuff thermo is speaking of :)

I also came up with two new acoustic song ideas last night for my holiday collection, it's shaping up nicely :) One is going to sound like an ole timey minstrel or bard if you will, I don't know how or why, but it's just not my normal thing and made me want to chant in elven.

from the first note I was intrigued,. scatting is badass. I really like the tone of the guitar too, and the way the vox compliment it. Yeah, I got nothing but good ratings on this one. I realy like it. You're so god damned good at everything you do man...

Ok, sorry I'm really (really really) slow but I finally got a mix without the second scat. Gentlemen, have at it. I am dying to hear some harp. Shoot if someone wants to throw some brush drums at it that would be cool too.

Oh, I thought I should add since someone commented, I record all my guitars with a classical... Cause that's the only acoustic I own :)

Bring on the dirty harp!!!

Same old song, I'm just trying to get Thermo to lay some harp on it as I have removed the second scat part. Nothing new though.

I would call that a great although probably not intentional merging of styles. Almost like a Doobie Brothers/SRV meeting of the minds. I couldn\'t help but want to hear that in electrified funk. Nice identity on the guitar. I agree harmonica might add more than the skat, but it also doesn\'t rule out a segment for them both .
