How do I combine 2 mono outputs to...

Let me try to explain what I'm trying to do. I have 3 stage monitors and only 1 stereo amp.

I have set my panning that feeds the amp to 60% left and 60% right for 2 of the monitors (this works fine as it is). What I would like to do is feed the third monitor with a combination of what the other 2 monitors are cranking out. Sort of like combining the 2 mono signals into 1 stereo track only the sum of the two tracks would have to be mono. Is there a simple way to do this? Is there such thing as a "Y" cable that will take 2 mono signals and combine to 1 mono signal. I have a similar cable but it is 2 mono female TR and a male TRS on the other end. If I plug in this cable to the first click will I get a combined sound or will I just get 1 channel?

Does this make any sense? I never thought it would be so hard to explain. Basically 1 monitor is for me and it will have "more me" on it. The other monitor is for our lead guitarist and it will have "more him", I would like the 3 monitor to be for our drummer and it he should hear both of us equally in his monitor.

I think, unless I'm very much mistaken you're gonna need a cable that is wired both outs (i.e. your 2 monitors) to a single jack (whatever the jack is) with BOTH them ... i.e. your gonna have a 2 channel lead if you get my drift ...

But, I could be picking this up wrong..I can see clearly what yer trying to do tho.

Would another option be to have BOTH your leads plugged in to a splitter jack i.e. a jack that takes your 2 inputs IN and with a jack that plugs into your other monitor so it feeds them (it owuld have 1 jack going into the monitor) ...

Dunno buddy .. seems a bind!

All the best anyways

Hey guys, I got to thinking that I might be able to use my patch bay for this.

This is probably a stupid question but, Is it ok to run an amplified signal through a patch bay? I've never done it before, only line level. I'm not even sure if it will work but I don't want to fry my patch bay experimenting.

I wouldn't try it...as far as I know, patchbays are only meant for line-level signals.

agreed, don't get the patch bay involved. are you dooin' different mixes in each single monitor? if not you can bridge the amp and run all three in series (the monitors should have two jacks on them) if so, just run all the power to one monitor then daisy-chain the others to that monitor.....check your impeedances though. i've done this alot. now if you want different mix's in the monitors, you're screwd.

You could add another monitor, give the drummer two and keep the same mix.( 4 mons in 2 pairs )

Ya, this is what I'm starting to think. It is either that or another amp and the monitors are a lot cheaper.

WYD, ya, I'm trying to give everyone their own mix.
