hey guys,
Whenever I record with my toneport There is too much plucking of the pick and it sounds horrible. Is it just the way i play or is there something I can do about it. when i listen through the headphones it sounds nice and smooth. Maybe the Pick is being picked up by audacity? maybe i should work off ableton live?
Thanks for the help!

May 24, 2006 09:25 am i'd switch to a thinner pick, or change up on your technique....try to keep the pick moore closer to a 90 degree angle....my good friend scrapes the damn strings when he picks and it's damn near unbarable to listen to.
May 24, 2006 09:45 am There might be a certain frequency that can you can attenuate to bring down some of the picking noise.
I've heard some yucky pickers as well, depends a lot on technique I guess.

May 24, 2006 09:47 am It could be a sign that you're using too much distortion and/or compression. When I get carried away with the gain knob, my pick attack becomes more pronounced. Same for when I use a high compression setting on my compressor stomp box.
You might try fooling around with a compressor's attack setting and see if you can get it to even out the pick attack versus the notes themselves.

May 24, 2006 10:34 am I'd agree with Tadpui. Compression.
Is it the attack, or is it scraping. If it's scraping, it's technique.
I actually use a lot of pick attack noise, but that's a personal thing.

May 25, 2006 08:14 pm The pick is going to be in the midrange tones. But it most likely is a combination of both tone and technique. I know I had trouble for a long time until I switched to a jazz style pick and learned to lighten up a little bit. But I agree as well a little compresion can help it out as well. I usually always use the compressor in the Toneport and it works slick.
