hey all

i found a mac laptop on craigslist that i wanted some opinions about.

i want to use this to record mainly myself on gtr, vox and keys. maybe a drum machine. in the future i'd like to try recording bands, and also working with Reason and other virtual instrument programs, loops etc to make commercial music (once i get the hang of everything!)

i will run Cubase on this. and i have an M-Audio firewire 410 interface.

heres the link to the laptop in question:

philadelphia.craigslist.org/sys/154249710.html

any comments on speed of CPU, memory size, etc greatly appreciated!

thanks much!

1.33 Ghz processor will surely get the job done for you as far as recording yourself one instrument at a time, but when it comes to recording a full band at once you may experience some issues with the speed, or lack of it. I would bump the RAM up as high as you can. It won't take the place of the CPU size, but it can help a bit.

Also, when recording a full band at once make sure you have no plugins running and other such CPU intensive things...it'll be nice for mixing down though...

i record on a much lower spec machine than that. Garage Band ought to do a decent job of multitracking for you, hopefully without any addiditonal outlay. If not, maybe Logic Audio would be worth a look
