New Feature - Recommend Topics

Posted on

Administrator Since: Apr 03, 2002

OK registered members, you can now "recommend topics"...at the top of each thread with all the other links to reply, start a new topic, etc, there is a "recommend" link, this will register you as recommending the thread as quality content. Each member can only recommend a topic once, and members cannot recommend threads they started.

In the next couple days I am going to be putting "popularity" icons of some sort next to each thread that indicates their popularity, as a secondary use it will be used to help me more accurately determine which threads the community sees as valuable, and use that for inclusion in the monthly newsletter.

So, recommend now, expect to see the icons in coming days...maybe even tonight, I don't train tonight, so I may get around to it.

hehehe, it's simple right now, just a note that, if the mouse is rolled over it'll popup how many recommendations it has been given...after a while, if it gets used much I'll have like a little LED meter or something that gets higher with more recommendations...something more fun like that...

What the hell is going on dB. are you bored, not working or just in love with all us members to keep improving on an already winning formula?

People certainly can't say your slacking

A little of each I suppose. I am working, just not super busy cuz I'm "the new guy", but it's picking up.

People that have been around for years will testify I go in definate streaks of productivity...I'll have a month of two where I just release feature after feature and fix after fix...then I'll go for many months of doing nothing, building up mental lists of stuff I wanna do, then, when inspiration hits again, I'll start the cycle over. I think I am just about done for this cycle...still considering a couple things but not sure.

Regardless, it's always good to see people like the new stuff, the last month or so has been very productive, I'm pretty proud of where HRC sits right now...but I'll never rest, it may look like I do, but I don't...sometimes the improvements members never see, it's just stuff behind the scenes that make my job easier :-)

This recommendation thing I am skeptical whether or not it will get used, but, well, we'll see.

The thing with the recommende sign Will possibly help the likes of me who are still new to home recording, as it may be another pointer towards a subject that will teach us something that perhaps we don't think about. I still have a hell of a long way to go to get a reasonable sound from what I have and I can honestly say that if HRC didn't exist i would probably have given up. as soon as I posted my first questions i saw that people were around who could help and not look down to the new guys as some other 'If you haven't got ProTools or a Spirit desk with a studio costing over 100000k' forums do. it really instilled the interest and the enthusiasm into wanting to learn more.

Yep, after all these years I can attest to his going in streaks. His big one though was the release of HRC in the form it is now, bigger, better, faster, stronger. That was a grand event. But this is one of the biggest roll's you have been on in awhile.

And ya, I almost fell of my chair when I saw you posted in mac74's Lone Star Laundry tune thread! :-)
