on the cheap, i'd go with Samson C02's for the OH, Sure SM57 on the amp, and MXL (not sure which model) for the vocals....

Rode nt1000's are very good for all those applications. I use them on everything, they really work great for drum overheads, you can really hears the crispness of the symbols and the deep tone of the tom's. for vocals they are very good and clear. And I pair one of them up with a shure sm57 on a amp and it sounds great.
I'd def go for a 2 rode nt1000's and a shure sm57.

Meltdown, do you have any tracks I can hear with your guitar tracks that you consider to be great? I just like to hear everyone's results with their setup so I can apply knownledge to my own operation.

you can hear mine in my profile, the CO2's were used on drum overheads, and 57 on the guitars...

A pair of MXL 991s are what I've been using for drum overheads lately . I don't have alot of experience with other mics of this nature to compare them with... but they did the job well enough for me . I'll be posting the results sometime in the next few months... still have a long way to go with it .

whosyourdaddy, how are you mastering these? Your songs sound very polished and your studio isnt chock full of extremly expensive equipment.

Also, if you could just give a brief explanation of your bass recording method(s) because the base in the metal song is totally perfect.
