As I know, this doesnt come with any phantom power. Is there anyway I can use my mixer to power my condensor and then run it in into the toneport? Or do I have to buy a standalone phantom power unit?

yeah, use your mixer's preamp to get the mic to line level, then run an output from the mixer to your UX-1's input.

pay attention to gain staging, keep your mixer at unity (channel and master volume) and also keep the ux1's pre at unity aswell.

For the record, the UX2 has built in phantom power :-)

Yes you can use your mixer that way.

But as dB stated the UX-2 has Phantom power built in. And it is powered right off the USB port as well. I plugged 2 condensors in and powered them both up with no problem at all. I do suggest though not to have anything else USB powered running at the same time.

Thanks guys. The reason Im not going up to the UX-2 is a)is Im selling a few old cymbals for $140 and dont really see much need for spending the extra 70$ for another input with power if i am going to be using only one mic. Also, I would like to keep my other USB powered devices in (m-audio audiophile soundcard, keystation 61) Anyway thanks again.

Fair enough, but it's not only an extra input, it's extra monitoring capabilities and phantom power plus hardware metering...the UX2 is actually quite the improved package, not just one extra input...that said, I respect your decision, just wanna make sure you have all the info.
