About drumcompass

My eyes are pretty shot out now but I can still smoke any youngster with my ears. God is good.
Started LEARNING drums in 1974, a drummer since 1981. Passion for music since I was, like, a baby- Mom's collection of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys I remember the most from the furthest back. I(Uh oh!)tore apart my first radio When I was about four years old- been a gearhead ever since. I graduated The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in 1997, trained by the likes of Kevin Becca and Andy Seagle. I was then blessed for the next several years working with the very finest of audio electronics available in recording, post-production, and live reinforcement.
I missed the rock & Roll star/recording engineer bus though.
Now a journeyman industrial electrician, living in Vancouver WA. I'm still "building MY studio", playing drums, and wishing that this generation of up-and-comers in the music industry knew what an MTR90 is, or who Brian Wilson is.

My Studio

Gretsch, Pearl, DW, and Zildjian.
Soundcraft, Allen & Heath, Behringer consoles:
Hafler, Audionics of Oregon, EV, and Yamaha amps; NS10, Genelec, Absolute Zero monitors: A slew of mostly project outboard gear; subs and line array enclosures that I built
from BILLFITZMURICE.COM designs.
