Hurricane Wilma Takes Out HRC *UPDATED*

Lousy resource management and a hurricane equals datacenter outage

OK, well, nobody is more ticked off then me right now. We are hosted in a datacenter that is built in excess of Category 5 standards. The DC did withstand category 5 earlier this year. However, for this one, the generators didn't start up on site for the backup power and a gas pump to feed the generators failed.

From the story I got so far it's a total management problem, they did test the generators on Thursday, but did not have some basic replacement parts around and no disaster recovery plan in place.

It sounds to me like it was a problem that any redneck with a garden hose and duct tape could have fixed, but they failed.

While we are back online for now, I have to pass Kudo's to our host, HostPC, for great communication and support, working with them, we will get to the bottom of the problems during this time and either work to correct the issue, or, find a better managed data center.

Sorry for any inconvenience, and jeez, I missed all ya'll.

UPDATE

Then, after everything was working, Verio decided to edit some routing or some damn thing and screwed it all up again for yesterday. Not exactly sure what happened there, but, believe me, I WILL get to the bottom of it.
