10MB of space for each member!

HRC today announces that each and every member of HRC gets space to upload music.

Today, May 6th, 2007 marks the 40th birthday of HRC owner and operator, me! To mark this momentous occassion, which has thus far turned out to be very anti-climactic, I have decided to give a present to everybody at HRC as it is all of you people that has made HRC the success it is.

As of now, each and every member that registers with HRC gets 10MB of server space to upload their MP3's for all the world to hear.

Over the past many weeks I have been going through the entire site to clean up code level security, make the site as fast and as efficient as possible, and clean up the database. All this was done in preparation for what I hope will help push HRC to the next level of home recording communities.

I hope to change the emphasis of what makes HRC great. Currently I believe HRC has the greatest home recording discussion forum on the internet. Does HRC have the industries most brilliant and respected minds, well, perhaps not but what we do have is a great group of people from many walks of life, budgets level, music styles and chosen recording platforms talking about what really matters...that being making the best music you can with what you have, not who has the greatest most expensive gear. The forum has always been welcoming of rookies and veterans, of people using a mic and a boombox or a massive ProTools rig.

I have been monitoring what features are used, what feature are not and streaming-lining HRC according to what it seems people actually want. This isn't the end of development, this step is only the beginning of the next phase of HRC. I have lots of other ideas I want to play with and features I will want to add. From here on out I will be scheduling development much more methodically than I have in the past, putting much more planning and thought into the hows and wheres of things I want to do. I am really looking forward to seeing how this free space for all members helps HRC grow, and I look forward to the features that are currently in development that I did not complete in time for this release. Stay tuned, the cool stuff is just beginning.

What I hope is that we can now post some of the great music everybody creates and we can become a place that people go to to hear great music made by home studio musicians like themselves.

Rock on, everybody, rock on. Thanks again for helping me make HRC what it is...something I am personally very proud of to be a part of, and allowed me to meet some great people from all over the world that I am proud to call friends, even though I wouldn't recognize you if you bumped into me on the street. :-)
