Hello, I have a juli@ soundcard and I wondered how can I use the simple pink connection on the computer for non expensive mic, or maybe connect a simple mic (with pink jack)in order to talk with some freinds on skype?

Welcome to HRC bono !

Forgive my ignorance(it is abundant), I have to ask y'a... what is 'skype', and why is your input 'pink' . Are you refering to the input for the stock soundcard on your compys main board ?
I'm sure someone here can help you if you rephrase your question a bit, and fill out your profile as to help get a grasp of what you're trying to do, with what you're working with .

skype is some online voice chat type of technology that should work with any sound device.

or, the "pink" connection I assume is the color of the computers built in 1/8" input...not sure what the pink connection is, line or mid in, so I really can't say. The Juli@ is alllllll white.

Well, skype is an online chat, and the pink is as well the built in input that the computer comes with when bought.
The Juli@ card was bought seperatly.
I bought recently a very simple mic with small trs (or jack as you wish) - perhaps its 1/8" that is compatible with the built-in (pink) input and thought that I can plug it in the Juli@ input (with a small to big trs connector). The facts are that I can't do that...
I hope now its more understandable..

about my comp.:
motherboard - MSI PT8 Neo-LSR/V
1M PRESCOTT HT800 3G INTEL P4
memory - DDR 256 400MHz

I have made contact with ESI but I dont know who the fu$#$ in UK use this kind of english - i couldn't understand what the heck they want from me, maybe you can...

"Your comment

[How do I connect a simple microphone (with small pink trs, just to use
skype) to the trs side? -

Sorry It is not possible

1) Juli@ does not have a Mic input

2) Also use of a multimedia mic [such as yours] cannot be used on a pro
sound card even has a mic input

3)The mic you have needs to be used on a consumer type audio card that has
the correct connection
Or used on an onboard sound device such as inbuilt AC97 sound device on a
mainboard

UK Support"

[I understand that i have to download the AC97 software? If so what version should I get?]

Use of onboard AC97 sound device on a motherboard and your multimedia mic does not relate in anyway to the Juli@
.................................................
I am sorry but you have misunderstood

The Mic you have cannot be used on the Juli@ card

As stated in the previous mail to you"

thanks guys

Hmmmm, I don't know what was hard to understand about their response, personally, but, regardless, here is my advice.

The Juli@ does not have a mic input, it's line input only...to run a mic into Juli@ you would need to first preamp it with a mixer or preamp of some other sort.

If you have the built in input in a standard onboard sound chip, I would suggest using that as well. You shouldn't have to download any AC97 sound drivers, as they should already be installed if your onboard chip currently works.

I would suggest, when using skype, put the Juli@ out of the picture completely...just use the integrated device, that little pink jack.

Yes, thankyou .

UK Support appears to be accurate, as well as polite .

Is the a particular reason why wouldn't you recomend using the Juli@ for that application, Db ? I've mixed a room for a stupid yahoo call . Is this not a 'good thing' ?

Well, using a Juli@ for a simple voice chat seems to be akin to putting hubcaps on a tractor...a very lo-fi use for a hi-fi sound device...seems simpler and acceptable to use a simple AC97 onboard for that use, just like gamers do for gaming communication and such, just two streams, one in and one out, nothing that needs a pro level sound device.

Overkill, right . That's all fine . As long as nothing gets 'hurt'... that was my concern .
