Now im tryin to record a something over a wav track. How can i record a midi song from the piano directly to that wav track ..like im tryin to play the wav. and as it plays i wanna record for example a bass line directly to it. does anyone know how to do that? or maybe jus record a Midi over a wav track. im using SONIC FOUNDRY ACID Pro 4.0<< if not possible wit that program. wat program do u suggest?

Jan 16, 2006 09:55 pm Well you cant record midi to an audio track. But as well I dont think Acid will allow recording of any kind, midi or audio. It is a loop based software which you simply drop pre made midi track or audio loops into and then edit to suite your needs.
You might want to look at something like Project 5 from Cakewalk or Ableton Live. These both come with an array of software synths and allow both mid and audio recording. I prefer Project 5 version 2 myslelf. But have a look at those as I think they will be just what you need.

Jan 16, 2006 11:18 pm Actually, you can record audio in Acid, but I don't think ACID supports midi. If your keyboard has sounds in it, there should be an audio out from your keyboard, and plug that into your soundcard and just record the audio. Where are the sounds that your midi is controlling coming from? The keyboard? A software synthesizer (soft synth)?

Jan 17, 2006 07:16 pm I looked all ove the docs for Acid 4 and it didnt state anywhere that it would record audio. It only stated you can drop in audio loops and manipulate them to make your tracks. I believe coolo though as he has used it if I am not mistaken. However I did just google up an articel that states it will also record basic midi input. No velocity or anything of that nature but it does record midi input from a controller. So that is good then for you.
So anyway, what midi keyboard are you using? This will help figure out which midi driver to look for to get your keyboard going into Acid.

Jan 17, 2006 08:47 pm Hmmm, I have definitely recorded audio in some version of ACID, not sure if it was version 4 though. I was at my friends house, and that's his recording software of choice.

Jan 18, 2006 10:24 pm Ya, I would think if they are gonig to stay competative they would have to have incorperated audio recording into it by now.

Jan 18, 2006 11:30 pm Yeah I have Acid 4.0, it does let you record audio tracks. It works but I still would rather use my Guitar Tracks software. I dont know why, maybe its the whole layout of Acid. Take care guys!
