Discovered a new Music-Go-Round in the Twin Cities

I was up visiting my mother in the Twin Cities over New Year's weekend, and I discovered another Music-Go-Round of which I was not aware. It's up in Maple Grove, a couple miles away from where my mom lives. The dude said he's been there about eight months, but I had never seen it. (Perhaps that means I should be visiting my dear old mother a bit more frequently!)

It was a great store, with some really good gear! Not a whole lot of home recording stuff. I was looking for a condenser mic, but they didn't have anything that tripped my trigger. I did buy a PreSonus TubePre mic preamp for $69. What a difference that bit o' kit makes! It doesn't make my voice sound good or anything, but it sure makes it sound fuller and warmer.

Just another place for me to spend my hard-earned do-re-mi.

There was a store up there for awhile but it was one of the ones that were owned by a guy who went into bankruptcy, dB can tell ya about that as he got out just before it all went belly up. But our bud Ben co-owns 2 stores here. One in Rooseville and the other down her by me in Burnsville. I believe he has his eye on the uptown store in Minneapolis as well. They always have great goodies in there. And it costs me everytime I walk in the door. But truly MGR is a great place as long as the owners pay attention to their stores. And Ben and Frank surely do.

You gotta let us know next time your in town so we can hook up for a cold one.

Yeah, I bailed out of that franchise just a month or two before they went under...though I was still working for him at home in the evenings doing web stuff as he needed it.

MGR rocks, but I'll only buy in Burnsville or Roseville personally...I'd go to Maple Grove to have a beer with ya'll tho...

Sweet...I'll let you know when I'm up there again and have some free time to suck a few cold ones.

The owner of the Maple Grove store said that he and another guy bought out the inventory of the Lake Street store that went under. His new store is pretty small, though...he says he has a lot more stuff in storage.

This guy talked about the "two guys who own the Burnsville and Roseville stores", so he must not be one of them two.

Frank does that! I wonder if Ben and Frank will grab the Uptown location then since it finally went belly up. I know that is what he was waiting for. They bought the Minnetonka store and just closed the doors on it. All they wanted were the fixtures and the inventory out of it. I'm going tommorrow to see Ben, I'll ask him then.
