Questions about M-Audio Audiophile 2496 Soundcard

Hello all -

I recently purchased M-Audio's Audiophile 2496 soundcard to use with my computer.

My application with the soundcard is to help record dj mix cds from my turntables / mixer into my computer.

I have several questions I hope someone can help me with.

First I will give you the specs on my computer:

Gateway 500 XL / Intel Pentium 4 Processor w/ 2.6 ghz / 512 mb ram

My computer already has a factory installed soundcard in one slot ( sound blaster audigy 2 )

Here are the issues I am having -

I have already physically installed the soundcard into my computer.

I have used the CD-ROM disk ( M-Audio Delta Series high definition audio cards PCI driver software / windows version 102004 ) that came within my box to download the driver for the soundcard.

I now have on my desktop an icon ( A small white box with a green arrow point up -it has DELTA-WDM... underneath the icon )

Everytime I click on that icon - the computer tries to reinstall the driver.

My first main question is - I CAN NOT FIND THE SOFTWARE APPLICATION TO RUN THE SOUNDCARD - example - pg 17 of the owners manual - I dont see the m-audio delta control panel anywhere )

I had 2 other CD-ROMS in my box -

" LIVE LITE 4 " - what do I need that for ? what does that do ?

also

" Pro Sessions Demo CD / REx2 / Acid Wav / AIFF " - what do I need that for ? what does it do ?

Also - After I physically plugged in my soundcard into my computer. - I DID NOT plug into the soundcard the " Host Cable connector and Break-out Cable " I did not think I needed that since I am just using the RCA inputs on my soundcard - I am not susing anything for midi capability - Am I right in not using it ?

Please tell me if I have my soundcard configured correctly in my computer -

Here is what I currently see after installing the soundcard and downloading the driver:

I go to Settings / - Sounds and Audio Devices Properties / Audio / Sound REcording :

M-Audio Delta AP S/PDIF is chosen / highlighted

Sound Playback : my regular soundcard is the default

Voice / Voice playback: my soundcard is the default

Voice Recording : M-Audio Delta AP S/PDIF is chosen / highlighted

Hardware:

One of the items listed is:

Manufacturer - M-Audio
Location: PCI Slot 1 ( PCI bus 1 Devise 0 Function 0
Device Status: this device is working properly.

SO - right now my main concerns are - is everything hooked up ok ; where is the Delta Music software program ????

And finally -

I have in my dj mixer ( A RANE MP 24 ) - a spot in the back where I am running my RCA connectors. The spot has a total of 4 RCA jacks - on one side it has a LEFT and a RIGHT side that state " PRE LOOP " and then in the same area there are 2 more jacks - a LEFT and a RIGHT side that state "POST LOOP ".

I have hooked up my rca cords from the PRe Loop connectors into the M-audio soundcard - into the ANALOG INS # 1 and # 2.

Is that the correct way to hook up from my mixer into the soundcard ?

In the past I had RCA cords from my mixer , from the PRE LOOP Left and Right jacks into a tape deck to make mix tapes - that seemed to work fine. I thought this configuration would be similar for the m-audio soundcard - but I am not sure.

I know this is long winded and my sound rambling - I hope you can figure out my questions and problems and can please help me.

Thanks so much

Michael

This doesn't seem right to me. I would think that you should select PCM 1/2 AP. I think you have selected the digital input that is located on the breakout cable.

In Windows control panel you should see a M-Audio icon. Double-click on it and select the patchbay/router tab. Make sure that H/W In 1/2 is selected.

The LIVE LITE 4 that you are referring to is Ambleton Live which is freebie recording software that they included. You may or may not want to use this software but regardless, make sure that you have assigned the correct hardware inputs for each track.

Hmm, thats about all I can say to try and help you out.
